CALL FOR PAPERS (Deadline: January 31, 2012)

The Second International Symposium on
Chinese Language and Discourse
This symposium is the second in a series of international symposia on the theme of Chinese Language and Discourse, held once every two years in different parts of the world. In 2012, the symposium will be held at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Theme: New approaches to the study of Chinese grammar

Abstracts are invited for oral presentations (30 minutes, including 5 minutes for discussion) to showcase latest advancements in broadly-defined discourse functional studies of the Chinese language, with preference given to those closely related to the conference theme.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Language and interaction
Language and society
Language and culture
Language and cognition
Corpora and Chinese studies
Language change and development
Chinese language acquisition and education
Chinese language and new media
Multilingualism and identity construction
Language contact

A one-page abstract should be submitted via Easy Abs through this link: http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/CLD2012. In addition to the Easy Abs submission, email the abstract as a .doc or PDF attachment to CLDSymposium@ntu.edu.sg, stating in the body of the email (i) Author’s Last Name; (ii) Author’s First Name; (iii) Affiliation; and (iv) Email. The abstract itself should be written in readable and plain English and must not include the authors' names and affiliations.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: January 31, 2012
Notification of acceptance: End February/Early March, 2012
