We are pleased to invite participation in KES2012 organised by the University of the Basque Country and the prestigious Vicomtech research centre in conjunction with KES International.

The conference will take place in the city of San Sebasti·n or Donostia, a vibrant city presiding over the beautiful Bay of Biscay in the North of Spain, near the border with France. Donostia is an important city of commerce and tourism in the heartlands of the Basques and is proud of its Basque traditions and language. The city may be more familiar to the outside world through its Spanish name, San Sebasti·n, site of the famous annual San Sebasti·n International Film Festival. The agreeable climate and the scenic views have long proved a draw for many visitors, from ordinary families to international film stars.

The conference will consist of keynote talks, oral and poster presentations, invited sessions and workshops, on the applications and theory of intelligent systems and related areas. It will provide excellent opportunities for the presentation of interesting new research results and discussion about them, leading to knowledge transfer and the generation of new ideas.

Papers are invited from prospective authors with interests in the areas of:-
Intelligent Algorithms, Tools and Techniques; Applications of Intelligent Systems; and, Emerging Intelligent Technologies.
All contributions must original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication during the review period. Please see the web site for details of the required paper format. To ensure high quality, all papers must be submitted using the PROSE online system, and will be thoroughly reviewed by the Programme Committee. The conference proceedings will be published by Springer in LNCS/LNAI. Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in refereed journals

Scientists, engineers and researchers who would like to organise an invited session of six papers, or a parallel workshop of a half or full day, on some topic falling within the scope of the conference, are invited to contact the KES Secretariat enclosing the title and content of the proposed session. We also welcome suggestions for other activities that will appeal to our delegates.
