* Introduction

The European Union is a trading block of 28 member states who have pooled their sovereignty to form a common market for free trade. The European Union has been an enabler for many cross-border Internet projects, including E-Participation, E-Twinning, Classroom 2.0, among others. The legislative powers of the European Union, which are constructed with the involvement of the European Parliament, cover many areas related to the Internet, including e-commerce. There are other European treaties, such as the Convention of Cybercrime that are agreed by EU members also.

* Objective

The objective of the proposed Special Issue is to highlight the specific issues and challenges around enabling and making use of the Internet in Europe. Research contributions in this special issue will provide insights about the nature of Europe as a e-polity, basis for cross-border education and marketing platform, and areas of co-operation between nations, such as e-politics, e-government and e-commerce. Issues such as cyber-crime and other computer law with a European dimension will also be considered. The contents in this special issue are of interest for researchers working in the domains of European Studies, e-politics, e-society, e-commerce, e-participation, e-learning, multimedia studies, and political science.

Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following in the context of the Internet and Europe:

- E-Participation
- E-Learning, Classroom 2.0
- eTwinning
- Cross-border marketing
- European politics and the ‘e-polity’
- E-Commerce
- E-Government
- Cybercrime

* Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special theme issue on the Internet in Europe. All submitted papers will be reviewed on a peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for reference citations.

NB. Papers can be submitted any time before the deadline, as reviewing will take place throughout the period of the advertising of this call for papers. Successful papers for the special issue will be give a letter of approval so the authors can put their publication on their CVs.
