Second ACM SIGSPATIAL International Workshop on Indoor Spatial Awareness (ISA 2012)
http://http://stem.cs.pusan.ac.kr/isa2012/ In conjunction with ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2012 http://http://acmgis2012.cs.umd.edu/ November 6, 2012, Redondo Beach, CA, USA The series of ISA workshops has recently been started to exchange original and cutting-edge research dedicated to indoor spatial awareness. As spatial information technologies and applications are going nowadays beyond their traditional boundaries, research into indoor space is increasingly attracting attention from academia and industry. Location based services, geographic information systems, and ubiquitous computing applications are all extending their coverage from outdoor space to indoor space. Indoor space differs from outdoor space in several important aspects including layout, topology, constraints, and so forth. High-quality research is required to create new theories and to acquire fresh experiences that can be applied to building integrated, seamless systems across space boundaries. This workshop is intended to bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners who work on different topics of indoor spatial awareness and to provide a forum for inspiring interdisciplinary discussions in all relevant aspects. This workshop calls for regular research papers, work-in-progress papers, as well as system demonstrations. The themes of this workshop include (but are not limited to) the following topics: * indoor spatial data models * handling moving objects in indoor space * positioning, tracking and navigation in indoor space * indexing and query processing of indoor spatial databases * construction of indoor spatial databases * context-awareness in indoor space * indoor space analysis * ontology for indoor space * interoperability and standards * applications and services for indoor space * emerging applications and services for indoor spaces Information for authors Submissions must be original and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Papers must be formatted using the ACM camera-ready templates available at http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates. The length limit is 8 pages for regular papers, and 4 pages for work-in-progress papers. All papers must be submitted in PDF format via the EasyChair system, at https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=isa2012 . Acceptance will be based on relevance to the workshop, technical quality, originality, and potential impact, as well as clarity of presentation. All submitted papers will be reviewed by at least 3 referees. The workshop also calls for demo papers that describe demonstrations of prototype systems of relevance to the workshop. Such papers must be formatted and submitted as described above, but are limited to 2 pages. In addition to relevance to the workshop, acceptance will be based on perceived interest to the workshop participants and the value of the demonstration. Authors of accepted regular and work-in-progress papers will be given the opportunity to also demonstrate their prototype systems at the workshop if they have such systems. Therefore they do not need to also submit corresponding demo papers. The proceedings of the workshop will appear in the ACM Digital Library. One author per accepted workshop contribution is required to register for the workshop and the conference, as well as attend the workshop to present the accepted submission. Otherwise, the accepted submission will not be included in the workshop proceedings. Important dates -------------- - Paper submission deadline: August 31, 2012 - Notification of acceptance: September 19, 2012 - Camera-Ready Copy due: September 30, 2012 - Workshop: November 6, 2012.
