For 24 years, the International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology has been disseminating innovative ideas and promoting new approaches and strategies in manufacturing emphasizing the
following Chairman's maxim:

“Manufacturing a product is not difficult, the difficulty consists in manufacturing a product of high quality at a low cost and in a short time”

The essence of the above statement can be implemented through extensive research in manufacturing and by then applying the results of research and any derived new ideas to the industry.
Profound changes are taking place at an accelerated pace in the manufacturing environment making the process increasingly more competitive and significantly different. Major changes are occurring in a number of different areas such as education, customer preferences, economies both at
national and global level, requirements of the workforce, agreements and relationships among nations social conditions, etc.
The Ninth International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology - AMST'11 - aims at presenting up-to-date information on the latest developments - research and industrial experience - in the field of machining of conventional and advanced materials, advanced manufacturing systems and automation, non conventional processes, micro and nanofabrication, processes for advanced materials, forming, design and ecodesign, management, quality assurance and metrology, thus providing an international forum for a beneficial exchange of ideas, and furthering a favorable cooperation between research and industry.
