The Feminists Against Armageddon project studies the impact of religious nationalist movements in Israel, Palestine, and internationally, and particularly their role in undermining women's and gender rights. Isha L'Isha Haifa Feminist Center and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung organized the first annual conference in 2025, focusing on political and cultural collaborations between Christian Evangelical actors and Jewish Messianic extremism.
This year's conference will focus on the role of Messianic movements in promoting the anti-gender movement, genocide, tech-fascism authotarianism, economic and cultural dispossesion, and coercive military and police violence. The conference seeks to trace and understand local and international dynamics, while highlighting modes of opposition and resistance Conference themes include • Global feminist activism vis-a-vis the anti-gender movement and Political messianism. • Feminist responses to coercive military force and genocide. • The centrality of Israel/Palestine in global religious nationalism. • Extractive capitalism, authoritarianism and anti-gender politics. • Regional case studies from the SWANA, the USA, Latin America, Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. • Feminist decoloniality and decolonialism Send abstracts of 150-200 words to isha@isha.org.il with the title "Feminists Against Armageddon" by September 30 News will be given by October 10 |
