Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to submit your contributions to IEEE GEM 2026 – Games, Entertainment & Media Conference, which will take place in Berlin, Germany, from September 5 to 7, 2026. IEEE GEM 2026 will be held in conjunction with ICCE-Berlin, as part of IFA – Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin, one of the world’s leading trade shows for consumer technology and electronics. The conference brings together researchers, academics, artists, designers, and industry professionals working at the intersection of consumer technologies, gaming, entertainment, media, and the arts. The main theme of IEEE GEM 2026 is Mersivity, understood as technology that connects us to each other and to our surroundings. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: • Mersive games: physical, sustainable, and embodied AI, and XI — eXtended Intelligence — for games, entertainment, and media • Wearable AI/XI, biosensing, BCI, haptics, sensors, and embodied interaction • Game technologies, engineering, and interactive systems • XI/XR, VR, AR, MR, spatial computing, and immersive technologies • HCI, UX, player experience, accessibility, inclusive design, Physical HCI, and WaterHCI • Serious games, applied games, gamification, game-based learning, exergames, and kinesiology-based games • Games for health, wellbeing, and social impact • Multimedia, audio, music, and audiovisual media • Interactive storytelling, virtual and extended humans and characters, and digital twins • Creative AI, generative media, and computational creativity • Player modelling, analytics, audience engagement, and behavioural data • Esports, streaming, online communities, and participatory media • Game design, development tools, prototyping, and production pipelines • Ethical, societal, cultural, legal, and sustainability issues in games and media • Surveillance, sousveillance, and metaveillance-based games, entertainment, and media • Media art, performances, exhibits, and creative technologies • Industry applications, case studies, and passionary innovation Submission formats IEEE GEM 2026 welcomes the following types of contributions: • Full papers: 4–6 pages • Short papers: 2–4 pages • Late-breaking papers: 2–4 pages For all contribution types, accompanying demos and videos are welcome. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore. Authors of selected best papers will be invited to submit an extended version to publications including IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine and IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics.
