Call For Papers

Despite decades of research in model-driven engineering, a persistent challenge remains: how to systematically capture informal domain knowledge and transform it into structured conceptual models that can be operationalized.
In practice, crucial knowledge about systems often exists in informal forms—such as natural language requirements, user stories, expert narratives, sketches, spreadsheets, and tacit stakeholder knowledge. Without systematic approaches to structure and operationalize this knowledge, models remain fragmented and difficult to integrate into engineering workflows.
The KONTEX workshop (Knowledge Operationalization from iNformal To EXecutable Models) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in methods, languages, and tools that transform informal or semi-formal knowledge into structured conceptual models and executable artifacts within model-driven engineering ecosystems.
KONTEX provides a forum to discuss emerging approaches for knowledge extraction, conceptual modelling, and model operationalization, including AI-assisted techniques and human-in-the-loop processes.

=== Topics of Interest ===
Topics include, but are not limited to:

Deriving conceptual or domain models from informal artifacts
Systematic processes from conceptual models to executable artifacts
Quality assessment and validation of derived models
Tools and frameworks for knowledge capture and formalization
NLP and rule-based approaches for model extraction
Machine learning and deep learning for model derivation
Large Language Models for conceptual modelling
Human–AI collaboration in modelling
Interactive and mixed-initiative modelling tools
Empirical studies on modelling practices
Industrial case studies and experience reports
Integration into model-driven engineering pipelines
