We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the 23th EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (GCH 2026).
GCH 2026 (https://gch2026.virvig.eu/) serves as a premier forum for experts from both the ICT and Cultural Heritage (CH) sectors. The workshop aims to showcase how computer graphics, AI, and digital technologies are revolutionizing the research, preservation, and dissemination of cultural heritage. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary submissions that foster collaboration between researchers, heritage professionals, and creative industries. Location & Venue: This year’s event will be held from November 2nd to November 5th, 2026 in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain. The workshop is hosted by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Organization: GCH 2026 is organized by the ViRVIG Research Center (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and supported by Eurographics. Objectives: GCH 2026 seeks to promote the exchange of novel ideas and groundbreaking developments in (but not limited to): - Digitisation of CH resources (3D scanning, motion capture, multispectral imaging, X-ray, terahertz imaging, etc.) - Material acquisition, reconstruction, and preservation - Visualisation for CH applications - Advanced rendering techniques - eXtended reality applications in the field of CH - Collaborative interactive eXtended and hybrid environments - AI tools for CH applications - Multi-modal analysis of CH data - Spatial and mobile augmentation of physical collections - Emotional and cognitive user experience design - Interactive solutions and HCI design for CH applications - Virtual museums, digital technologies and applications for museums - Digital fabrication, including 3D printing for tangible interfaces - Semantic technologies for digital libraries - FAIR visual CH data, including large-scale datasets Types of Contributions: We invite the following types of submissions: - Full Research Papers: Original and innovative research (up to 10 pages). - Short Papers: Ongoing research, applications, or project reports (up to 4 pages). - Posters / Demos: Overview of interdisciplinary projects or technical demonstrations (2 pages). - ECCCH: Original innovations related to visual media in the future ECCCH (up to 4 pages or up to 10 pages) Important Dates: - Full Paper Submission: June 1st, 2026 - Short Paper Submission: July 22nd, 2026 - Poster Submission: July 22nd, 2026 - ECCCH Submission (full and short papers): July 22nd, 2026 - Notification of Acceptance (Full Paper): July 15th, 2026 - Notification of Acceptance (Short Paper, Poster, ECCCH): September 10th, 2026 - Camera-Ready Deadline: October 1st, 2026 - Workshop Dates: November 2-5, 2026 ECCCH Track ----------- Visual Computing in the Context of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) https://www.echoes-eccch.eu/community This special track invites research and application papers on visual computing methods, representations, and evaluation approaches aligned with the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH). Submissions should articulate a clear research contribution or a significant application and explicitly connect it to the ECCCH context (e.g., through use of shared datasets, cloud workflows, semantic resources, heritage digital twins, or collaborative scenarios). Contribution length: short papers (up to 4 pages) or full papers (up to 10 pages). Topics of interest include (non-exhaustive): - Any of the general GCH topics listed above with a clear ECCCH connection. - Cloud-enabled visual pipelines and workflows, in the ECCCH context. - Semantic artifacts for visual heritage in the ECCCH (ontologies, controlled vocabularies, mappings, and annotation models supporting discovery/linking of visual content). - Data quality assessment for visual media (such as 2D images and 3D models). - Sustainable visual computing for the ECCCH (energy-aware pipelines for 2D/3D content, performance optimization, and methods to measure and reduce the environmental footprint of the cloud). OTHER INFORMATION Journal Invitations for Extended Versions: Works of any of the conference tracks with a high innovation potential will receive a proposal to prepare an extended manuscript of their contribution (or extended version in case of Full Papers) to be submitted to a scientific journal. This year, GCH is establishing dedicated agreements with the following journals: ACM JOCCH Journal, Elsevier DAACH. ACM JOCCH‘s Special Issue on “Visual Heritage”. In addition to the post-conference journal invitations mentioned above, GCH 2026 will also host presentations for the separate ACM JOCCH Special Issue on 'Visual Heritage'. This Special Issue focuses on novel computing research for documenting, accessing, and researching cultural heritage, including areas of computer graphics, computer vision, artificial intelligence, visualisation, human-computer interfaces, and other visual technologies. Please note that the submission deadline for this specific Special Issue (March 2026) has already passed. However, authors of papers accepted to this Special Issue will present their work at the conference. Short versions of these papers will be included in the EG proceedings, while the Special Issue itself will be published by December 2026.
