Call For Papers: Veteran Trauma, Moral Injury & Accountability in Complex Care Systems
Journal: Journal of Veteran Research & Systems Accountability (JVRSA) Publisher: Combat Support Institute (CSI) Issue: Winter Issue Publication Date: January 2027 Scope and Topics: The Journal of Veteran Research & Systems Accountability (JVRSA) invites original research, policy analysis, and scholarly submissions for its Spring Issue focused on Veterans, Disability & Civil Rights in Institutional Systems. This issue seeks rigorous, evidence-based work examining how institutional systems impact veterans with disabilities and how civil rights frameworks are applied, enforced, or denied. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: • Combat trauma, moral injury, and complex disability as civil rights and public health issues • PTSD, TBI, moral injury, and co-occurring conditions across the lifespan • Complex trauma, polytrauma, and intersecting mental, physical, and neurological conditions • Long-term, intergenerational, and cumulative outcomes of combat exposure • Fragmentation, gaps, and failures in trauma-informed healthcare and social service systems • Continuity of care, care coordination, and transitions between VA, DoD, and civilian systems • Ethical, legal, and human subjects’ considerations in veteran mental health and trauma research • Risk, harm, and unintended consequences of pharmacological, behavioral, and experimental treatments • Access, equity, and disparities in complex trauma care delivery • Institutional power, consent, and coercion in treatment decision-making • Family systems, caregivers, and secondary trauma in veteran care • Data practices, outcome measures, and evidence standards shaping veteran trauma treatment • Innovative, integrative, and emerging care models (with critical evaluation) • Lived experience, clinician-scholar, and practitioner perspectives • Accountability frameworks, oversight mechanisms, and reform models for complex care systems Abstract Deadline: August 30 Notification: September 30 Full Manuscript Submission Deadline: November 30 Publication Release: January 2027 Submission Guidelines: -Abstracts should be 250–300 words -Manuscripts must follow APA 7th Edition formatting -Submissions involving human subjects must document IRB approval or exemption -Use of the CSI IRB is permitted but not required -All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review Publication Information: JVRSA is a peer-reviewed, quarterly journal dedicated to advancing research that evaluates systems affecting veterans and promotes ethical, evidence-based accountability and reform. |
