Call For Papers

The Global Academy of Business and Economic Research is organizing its seventeenth international conference at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel in New York on 25-27 September 2019 to examine economic activity around the globe and commerce across different regions. In this conference we will address a number of key issues from the spread of one economic crisis across borders to the financial links and fluctuation in investor sentiment that signal a boom or bust. Which factors make economies particularly vulnerable to financial contagion? What makes one economy better insulated from its effects than others? Our conference in New York will be an opportunity to examine the efficiency of markets and to understand the factors leading up to the crash and evaluate the success of policy reforms in depth from Latin America to the Asia-Pacific region. The crises of the last decade demonstrate the difficulties for sovereign states operating within a single monetary framework, so we will also examine the relationship between the different crises and fiscal imbalances in the eurozone.

Between credit booms and currency crises, the ensuing volatility from international capital flows into and out of emerging economies presents unique challenges for states and the international monetary system alike. We will investigate the causes of capital mobility, drawing on insights from principal-agent analysis to behavioral finance, and how to better measure capital surges and reversals. We invite contributions which address the questions above and along the theme of “Fiscal Policy, Trade, and Market Volatility.” In particular, we welcome articles that introduce contemporary ideas and developments by academics and practitioners alike, combining theoretical foundations with practical insights that can facilitate decision-making in global business.
