Call For Papers

The International Conference on Translation is pleased to invite you to an interdisciplinary conference of translation, culture and comparative literature on March 3-4 2019 at Kuwait University, Kuwait. Participants are encouraged to discuss the interdisciplinary, interculturality, and transnationality with respect to the following disciplinary fields involving translation:


Comparative literature in translation studies.
Cultural issues in audiovisual translation
Cultural sensitivity in translation and translated literature
Culture-bound expressions.
Interchange between literary and translation studies.
Sacred text translation.
Text selection for global dissemination. The translator as traitor. Selling out to the West?
Textual reproduction.
Towards a frontierless world: Translation re-connecting/re-correcting in a virtual world.
Translation and censorship.
Translation and Ideology.
Translation and the diffusion of Information across the globe.
Translating pop culture.
Translating the other.

This two-day translation event, the first to be organized by Kuwait University, will consist of a series of lectures on translation and its involvement with culture and comparative literature. We look forward to receiving your papers and welcoming you in Kuwait in 2019.

Abstracts should be approximately 200 - 300 words in length (not including the title and references). Please submit the abstract in WORD format as a file attachment to: ICT@arts.ku.edu.kw, by 20 January 2019.

In the body of the e-mail, please also include the following information:

1. Title of abstract
2. Area of translation addressed in the paper/keywords.
3. Name(s) and affiliation(s) of presenter(s)
4. E-mail address of each presenter

Accepted speakers will present for 20 minutes, followed by an additional 10 minute question period.

Deadline for abstract (200 - 300 words) submissions: 20 January 2019

Notification of acceptance: 3 February 2019
