AIMS AND SCOPE
E-business systems and applications are becoming increasingly complex involving a large number of interdependent activities, processes and subsystem, and as a result, evaluation of them becomes harder. Also often businesses need to explore and evaluate new ways of doing business harnessing effectively continuing advances in ICT and the benefits of globalisation. Conceptual modelling is a preferred approach to analysing and evaluating e-Business systems and applications, and it is assuming growing significance as new generation e-businesses applications become more complex and is expected to provide dependable services.

The 8th International Workshop on Conceptual Modelling Approaches for e-Business (ECOMO2009) focuses on advances and challenges in modelling and analysing Web systems and e-Business applications. By bringing together researchers and practitioners interested in business or enterprise modelling, enterprise and enterprise application integration, semantic Web, business meta-data, ontologies, process management, business re-engineering, business models, and business communication, the workshop provides a forum for discussing innovations in modelling approaches for e-business systems and applications.

ECOMO2009 follows the earlier successful workshops in this series held at Salt Lake City, Yokohama, Tampere, Chicago, Shanghai, and Klagenfurt, and is integrated into the (United Information Systems Conferences) UNISCON 2009.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
Topics of interest span a wide range of areas in conceptual modelling in the context of e-business. They include research and practice, methods and tools for developing and communicating conceptual models of e-business and other Web applications, and techniques for transforming conceptual models into effective implementations. We invite papers highlighting research findings and work in progress as well as scholarly reviews in a range of areas related to the scope of the workshop, including, but are not limited to:

- Challenges in modelling and analysing e-Business systems and Web applications
- Enterprise modelling - value chains, business processes, services, market, competition, strategic alliances, and outsourcing
- Modelling, analysing, bidding online auctions for goods, services, and advertising spaces
- User modelling including Web site usability, and system adaptation and personalisation
- Business semantics, reference (meta-)models, ontologies, model mapping, model integration, model coupling and de-coupling, cohesion, and economy value modelling
- Conceptual modelling for system interoperation or collaboration including COTS, components, processes, and negotiation
- Modelling Influence of online social networks on businesses
- Modelling and assessing user generated content (UGC) and its impact on business
- Quality of services, products, models, or modelling languages
- Business communication and coordination languages
- Process and quality models for modelling, open model approaches
- Tools for creating and analysing conceptual models
- Model-based design and testing of e-Business/Web-based systems

All submissions will be peer-reviewed for their originality, relevance, and clarity. Papers should not exceed 12 pages. The accepted papers presented at the eCOMO workshop will be published in UNISCON 2009 proceedings which is planned to be published as Springer Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) like it was done in the previous UNISCON 2008 in Klagenfurt,.
