Call for Short Papers - NCMA 2018

10th International Workshop on
"Non-Classical Models of Automata and Applications"
(NCMA 2018)

August 21 - 22, 2018, Košice, Slovakia

NCMA welcomes research papers that contain original contributions on
classical and non-classical models of automata and applications and
related subjects. Many models of automata and grammar-like structures
are the natural objects of theoretical computer science. They are
studied from different points of view in various areas, both as
theoretical concepts and as formal models for applications. The aim of
the workshops on "Non-Classical Models of Automata and Applications" is
to provide a forum for researchers who work on different aspects of
classical and non-classical models of automata and grammars to exchange
and develop novel ideas.

In order to emphasize the workshop character of NCMA 2018, we also
invite short contributions that report on recent results or ongoing
work in addition to full papers. However, in contrast to the
accepted regular (full) papers that will be published in the OCG
proceedings, the accepted short papers will appear in a separate
technical report.

Topics for NCMA 2018 include:

- formal models inspired by linguistics, bio-computing, text
processing, document engineering, self-assembly, etc.,
- bio-inspired models of automata and generative devices,
- cellular automata,
- forgetting automata and restarting automata,
- automata with additional resources,
- regulated rewriting/automata,
- networks of automata or generative devices,
- models of cooperation and communication,
- quantum automata.

Other related topics, in particular, contributions dealing with
questions on classical automata and generative devices are also

The workshop series "Non-Classical Models of Automata and
Applications" started in Wroclaw, Poland, in 2009. Since that the
workshop takes place annually. The proceedings of these workshops
have appeared as volumes in the series of the Austrian
Computer Society. In addition, special issues of Fundamenta
Informaticae or RAIRO-Theoretical Informatics and Applications were
dedicated to each of them. For NCMA 2018, a special issue of Journal
of Automata, Languages, and Combinatorics is anticipated.

Important Dates:

* Full papers:
Deadline for submissions: May 28, 2018
Notification of acceptance: June 28, 2018
* Short papers:
Deadline for submissions: July 2, 2018 AoE
Notification of acceptance: July 9, 2018
* Final version for the proceedings: July 13, 2018 AoE
* Workshop: August 21-22, 2018.

Authors are invited to submit short papers of up to 8 pages
in electronic form (Postscript or PDF). All submissions should
be prepared using the OCG-style (please see the web-page for detailed
information). Short papers will be reviewed by at least two PC
members, but simultaneous submissions of extended versions
to other conferences or workshops with published proceedings
are allowed. To submit a short paper, please send a PDF file
to the email address with the subject
"Submission of Short Paper" and with the paper title
and author names in the body of the message.
